Charles Richard Jefferson

June 24, 1956 - September 4, 2025

Charles Richard Jefferson was born on June 24, 1956 to the late Cleveland Jefferson, Sr. and Dorothy Jefferson in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was called from labor to rest on September 4, 2025 at the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Sweeet Rest Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully as an usher and attended Sunday School and B.T.U.

He attended schools in Washington Parish and graduated from Franklinton High School. He was active in both track and football sports. Charles “loved” watching western shows, and fishing. Charles never met a stranger, he loved talking. 

Charles was drafted in the United States Army Serving in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He had a strong passion for cooking and his favorite thing to cook was Camelia red beans, smoked turkey legs, tripe, and fried chicken wings.

He was employed by the Methodist Hospital and Frigidaire in Houston, Texas for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Dorothy Jefferson; one sister, Kena Jefferson Asbury; three brothers, Cleveland, Jr., Rudolph and Glen Oran Jefferson; three brothers-in-law, Jeffery Burris, Bruce Burris, and Patrick Alexander.

Celebrating and cherishing his memories is his devoted wife, Jocelyn; four daughters, Latarica, Latashia, Brittany Jefferson, and Dominique Jefferson; two sons, LeRon and Chaz; three granddaughters, Trinesha, Janae, and Miyah; two grandsons, Jamel and Levi; five brothers, Rev. Clifford Ray (Anita), Sr., Clarence (Kay), Greg, Kim and Kevin; one sister, Lisa (Cedric) Brown; five sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Larry), Jeanne, Doris, Cynthia and Charlean; three brothers-in-law, Gerald, Lucius (Terrica) and Christopher (Cerissa); and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Norwert Hills, Jr. - Officiating. Interment will be held at the Sweet Rest Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
