Hugh Ellis Wilson, Jr.

October 10, 1951 - September 11, 2025

Hugh Ellis Wilson, Jr. was born in New Orleans on October 10, 1951, the eldest son of 9 Siblings.  Hugh was preceded in death by his parents (Hugh Ellis Wilson and Ella Lee Lewis Wilson) and one Sister Clara Wilson Barnes. 

Hugh was dedicated to prayer, rising early on weekdays to join the Family Prayer Group via his iPhone. He cared deeply for family and friends, faithfully praying for them.   At the end his prayer with a statement, “Lord How May I Serve You Today” 

Hugh joined the Christian faith at a young age and accepted the Lord Jesus.   A devoted Christian and member of Christ Temple Church where he worshipped and studied the Word of God to deepen his faith.  He later visited Carver Desire Baptist Church and became an Honorary Member, while participating in activities to further his love for the word of God.

Hugh built a life marked by dedication, intelligence and kindness. He pursued a successful career as an Engineer at Tulane University Health and Science. His work and commitment left a lasting impact until he was diagnosed with visual impairment.  Nevertheless, Hugh still enjoyed life despite his visual limitations. 

Outside of his professional life, Hugh had a deep love for reading that reflected a deeper appreciation for learning and explanation.  He engaged quiet afternoons listening to Audio Books, exchanging thoughts, sharing ideas and conversation with others. He also enjoyed music and loved dancing.

Throughout his life, Hugh demonstrated resilience and unwavering optimism, even in the face of adversity. His gentle spirit and generosity touched everyone who knew him, leaving behind cherished memories that will be remembered for years to come.

Hugh is survived by his siblings, Melvin Wilson (Jennifer), Celina Wilson, Virginia Wilson, Annette Wilson, George Wilson (Dana), Richard Wilson and Debra Wilson; one uncle, Ceophus Lewis; and aunt, Doretha Lewis; a host at nephews, nieces, great niece, and nephews, cousins, church community and friends. 

Hugh lived everyday with confidence and joy knowing that earth is short, and Heaven is long.   2 Corinthians 5:8, "Absent from the body, present with the Lord"

Services will be at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness USA on September 27, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
