Shelia Ann Varnado

June 24, 1949 - September 14, 2025

Shelia Ann Varnado, age 76 and a resident of Hammond, passed away Sunday night September 14, 2025 at North Oaks Medical Center. She was a native of Franklinton, born on June 24, 1949, and was a longtime resident of Denham Springs. She worked in the cafeteria of Denham Springs Junior High and Denham Springs High School for many years. Shelia loved working with her hands, including making and painting ceramics and even refinishing furniture. She had an affinity for lighthouses, boats and other marine items, collecting many of those over the years. Shelia also enjoyed tending to her plants. She was strong-willed in nature and always confident in freely giving her opinion and advice to her sons and others.

Survived by: 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Troy and Lisa Varnado of Franklinton, Nicholas and Jamie Varnado of Hammond; Grandchildren and Spouses: Shun and Justin Fanguy, Seth and Morlon Boone, Nathaniel Varnado; Great-grandchildren: River Boone, M.J. Jenkins; Sister: Amber Roubique of Hammond; Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry D. Varnado, parents Samuel G. Seal and Zulema Miller Seal, father in law Charlie Varnado and Dorothy Jenkins Varnado, brother in law Roger Dale Varnado and other family members.

Visitation will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church (10453 Arnold Road, Denham Springs) on Saturday September 20th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Derek Wall officiating. Following the funeral service, Shelia will be laid to rest in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery (18486 Sanders Road, Franklinton) with a graveside committal service at 4:00 pm Saturday.
