The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested Charles Crockett, age 61 and of Ponchatoula, for shooting and injuring his stepson during an argument at their home on Saturday (September 13, 2025).
Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, a call came in reporting a 26-year-old man had been shot twice during an altercation. The caller indicated the shooter was Crockett, the victim’s stepfather, and that he had fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Later that night, Crockett walked into the Covington Police Department and admitted to the shooting. He was taken into custody, transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, and booked on the charge of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
The TPSO wants to thank the Covington Police Department for its assistance with this case.
