Franklinton Police Arrest One After Shooting During Dice Game

On Thursday (September 11, 2025) of last week, at approximately 5:17 PM, the Franklinton Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting near the intersection of Williams Street and Ridge Court.

Upon arrival, responding officers learned the victim, later identified as a 16-year-old minor, had been transported by private vehicle to Riverside Medical Center where his gunshot wounds were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred during a dice game involving several juveniles at a residence on Williams Street. Multiple witnesses identified the suspected shooter as 18 year-old Darrin Dykes of Franklinton.

A warrant was issued for Dykes arrest, he was located on September 12, 2025 and taken into custody without incident. Dykes was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on the charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Illegal Discharge/Use of Weapon. Bond has been set at $150,000.00.
