Former Covington PD Deputy Chief of Police Indicted for Possession of Child Pornography and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on September 17, 2025, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted 41-year-old Randall Joseph “Trey” Mahon III for 17 counts of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles along with 1 count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile under the age of 13. 

Mr. Mahon, the former Deputy Chief of Police with the Covington Police Department, had previously been charged with 5 counts of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles and 1 count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile under the age of 13. Through further investigation conducted by the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office’s Special Victim’s Unit Task Force, the Covington Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security, along with substantial assistance from the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs, additional child sexual abuse material was discovered on Mr. Mahon’s electronic devices as well as on a cloud storage platform he had subscribed to. 

Mr. Mahon is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment and to address his bond on September 25, 2025.
