Willie Murphy, Jr.

February 19, 1940 - August 24, 2025

Mr. Willie Murphy, Jr. was born February 19th, 1940, to the late Willie Murphy and Ollie Mae Murphy in Bogalusa, LA.  He graduated from Central Memorial High. He was united in marriage to Bennie Magee Murphy for 62 years; to this union two children were born: Terron and Richard (Ricky) Murphy. Willie loved gardening and attending to his yard.  He worked for Crown Zellerbach, Alt’s Floral and later retired from Centerpointe Gas company. He was a hard-working son, husband, and father. Upon retirement, Willie enjoyed his grandchildren and family dearly. If you ask Bennie, his favorite thing to do was to eat, and if you knew Willie well enough, ain’t that the truth! Willie would give you the shirt off his back, he was a giving person and always willing to help. He will be greatly missed.

On Sunday August 24th 2025 Willie went home to be with the Lord, leaving to cherish his memories Bennie Magee Murphy, three children; Richard (Crystal) of Baton Rouge, LA; Julia Marie Martin of Detroit, MI; Amanda Murphy of Bogalusa, LA; fourteen grandchildren; Jalyn, Jasmyn, Jordyn, Jeremiah, Shaniah, Brooklyn, Miia, Mi’Arii, Mijzen, Majir, Mahj, Malanii, Tony, Venettra; three great grandchildren Deanna, Cameron,  JaNyiah and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Willie and Ollie Mae Murphy, four brothers J.W. Thomas, Julius Thomas, Charles Thomas, Curley Murphy, one sister Francis Magee, one daughter Terron Murphy, two sons Byron Brown and Micheal Harrington

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00PM - 6:0PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:30PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
