Donald Keith Westmoreland
December 3, 1960 - August 17, 2025
Donald Keith Westmoreland, age 64 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Sunday morning August 17, 2025 at North Oaks Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in New Orleans on December 3, 1960 and grew up in Harahan. Donald obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of New Orleans and later received his Master’s in Library Science from Louisiana State University. He had a long career as Director of the St. Tammany Parish Library System and upon retiring was recognized by the Parish President for his many years of dedicated service. During this time, Donald also served on the Board of the Washington Parish Library System for several years before leaving in 2021. He was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy for his family. Donald often went to great lengths and took many far trips to document the grave locations of his distant relatives. He loved taking road trips and going out to eat, many times combining the two by visiting different restaurants all around Louisiana. Donald liked to play card games with his friends and family and he was always a proud patriot, displaying the American flag and Louisiana state flag at his home. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Chalmette.

Sister and Brother in law: Linette and Barry Pourciau of Metairie
Nieces and Nephews: Brooke, Bryan, Penny, Wolfgang and their families
He was preceded in death by his parents Odie Duest Westmoreland and Thelma Patridge Westmoreland, a sister Kathleen and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Monday August 25th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Monday with Pastor Sandra Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Corkern Cemetery.
