The National Park Service has announced a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant award of $599,938 to the Louisiana State Parks and Recreation Commission. The recipient, Louisiana State Parks and Recreation Commission, will improve Bogue Chitto Boulder Playground. This project will construct an outdoor bouldering playground, parking, pavilion, and bouldering training center, install; fall-safe support surfacing, benches, and signage.
The Total Project Cost is $1,199,876 and has an estimated completion date of September 30, 2028.
The LWCF State and Local Assistance Program provides matching grants for state, tribe, and local park projects outside national park boundaries.
In announcing the Award, Washington Parish Government noted, “Exciting things are happening at our Bogue Chitto State Park! Our park is growing and improving every day - and we couldn't do it without the support of our elected officials. Thank you for your continued commitment to enhancing the Bogue Chitto State Park for our residents and visitors.”
