A Message from Washington Parish Government
The Purple Heart is one of our nation’s most distinguished military honors, awarded to those wounded or killed in action while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. On Monday, July 28 at 4:30 PM, we will host a ceremony at the Washington Parish Courthouse to officially proclaim Washington Parish a Purple Heart Parish — a symbol of our lasting gratitude for the sacrifices made by our service members. As part of this effort, we are asking our citizens that if you know of a Purple Heart recipient, those with us and those we’ve lost, please contact us with their name (see contact info. below). We want to recognize and honor each one during this important event.
Let’s come together to celebrate the courage and sacrifice of our heroes.
