Oddis Glen Burch
January 27, 1938 - July 14, 2025
Oddis Glen Burch, age 87 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away early Monday morning July 14, 2025 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a Class of 1957 graduate of Franklinton High School where he played on the football and basketball teams, did track and field and also played baseball. Glen remained a sports fan all his life and enjoyed following the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. He served his community and country in the Louisiana Army-National Guard for several years. He had a long career as a sheet metal mechanic and other jobs for Avondale Shipyards for 37 years before retiring in 1999. Glen was a longtime active member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Franklinton. He always enjoyed mowing his grass, taking care of his yard and feeding the birds that visited his property every day. Glen liked gardening and growing delicious tomatoes. He also enjoyed watching old western TV shows and movies and he cherished all the time spent with his family.
Survived by: Wife of 60 years: Emogene Strahan Burch; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: David and Stacey Burch, Gary Burch; Daughter and Son in law: Christi and Jeffrey Harrison; Granddaughters: Mary Ella Burch, Sophia Harrison; Brother in law and Sister in law: Edward and Shirley Strahan; Special Friend: Duane Billey; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his son Darrell Glen Burch, grandson Mason Tanner Burch, parents Melvin Burch and Lola McDaniel Burch, brothers and sisters in law Ralph and Rose Burch, Phillip “Sonny” and Dorothy Burch, father in law and mother in law Cecil and Ada Mae Strahan and other family members.
A graveside funeral service will be held in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery at 10:00 am Wednesday July 16th with Eld. Jason Matheny and Eld. Gary Sumrall officiating.
