Mississippi Man Killed in St. Tammany Parish Crash

On July 12, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 59 near the Interstate 12 interchange in St. Tammany Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 64-year-old Barry D. Stockstill of Picayune, Mississippi.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Stockstill was driving a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer pulling a trailer northbound on Interstate 59. For reasons still under investigation, the Mercury traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.

Stockstill, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Mercury, who was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was obtained from Stockstill for analysis.
