Shortly before noon on Monday (July 7, 2025), the Slidell Police Department responded to a residence off of West Hall Avenue following reports of a dog attack involving a young child.
Upon arrival, officers found a 6-year-old child suffering from severe injuries. The attack came from the family’s pitbull, which was temporarily chained in the backyard at the time of the incident. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the child was immediately airlifted to a trauma hospital in New Orleans for urgent medical treatment.
Slidell Animal Control has taken possession of the dog, as the investigation continues.
