Andre "Frog" Robinson

January 31, 1961 - February 10, 2025

Our beloved Andre Robinson was born January 31, 1961. He is the last child born to the late Simon and Lila Harry Robinson.

Andre was affectionately known as “Frog” to his siblings and many in the community.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry (Gale) Ray Anderson, Reynold (Tracey) and Arisca; one sister, Rebecca; a sister-in-law, Brenda; a brother-in-law, James “JW” Witherspoon, Sr.

He is survived by two brothers, Danny Lee (Debra) and Wallace; three sisters, Doris Witherspoon; Beulah (Alan) and Ellen; his son, Sherman Andrews; his loving and dedicated caregivers, Lonnie and Rita Kendall; grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

As a children Andre was raised in Angie, Louisiana. He was a member of the Wesley Ray United Methodist Church. He attended Wesley Ray Elementary School. He was 8 years old when he lost his mom. His older siblings were his best companions while his father worked to provide for us all. This is how he got his nickname “Frog”. His siblings taught him how to walk. Andre would hop like a frog until he was taught how to walk like a child.

By the grace of God Emma and Wille B. Roberts, his mother’s sister and brother-in-law became his guardians and raised him in the Wesley Ray Community. His siblings continued to provide him with love and companionship. He graduated from Varnado High School in 1980. Andre attended and graduated from Northshore Technical Community College in Bogalusa, Louisiana and started his own business “Frog Service Company”. He moved to Houston, Texas and further trained under B and C Construction Company. Andre was very talented and well versed in all types of construction and maintenance, He was his own boss. While in Houston, Texas he joined Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gusta Booker, Pastor and Elder Obie Lacy, Officiant. Frog was the maintenance supervisor for the church. Andre fathered a child, Sherman Andrews, who shared a mutual bond. Andre’s health began to fail him in 2004. Andre's siblings relocated him from Houston to Bogalusa, Louisiana, in a home provided by his sister, Doris. Andre traveled back and forth from Louisiana to Tennessee when he could; donating his time and talents to Better Choice of Living INC. A non-profit organization founded by his sister, Doris. Unfortunately, Andre’s health got worse, his siblings had a family meeting to determine who would look after him. His older sister, Doris Robinson Witherspoon relocated him to Tennessee and cared for him for over 30 years as his conservator, until God called him home. Andre was loved by his siblings, son, grandchildren, and all who had the opportunity to get to know him. Doris promised her mom and siblings that she would see to it that Andre's remains would go back to Angie and be buried at the end of his mothers grave. She kept that promise. Andre is united with his parents, and brothers in paradise. To God be the Glory.
