Christopher Delano Matthews, Jr.

September 24, 1997 - June 10, 2025

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delights in his way."  Psalm 37:23 

On September 24, 1997, Pastor Christopher D. Matthews, Sr. and Rozuanda Nichols-Youngblood were blessed with a handsome and healthy baby boy. Christopher Jr. was the first boy of the Matthews kids, his mom’s first born, and the apple of everyone's eye. In the late evening of June 10, 2025, the Lord called his precious angel back to his kingdom where he would take his eternal rest. “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised,” Job 1:21. 

Christopher was destined for greatness at a very young age. He was always looking to learn new things and help out in any way possible. Christopher was very courageous and fearless. He had a contagious smile and his words always brought comfort and security to everyone. When there was an encounter with Christopher, he always made sure he left his mark and loving spirit. 

At a very young age, Christopher dedicated his life to Christ. He was baptized as a young boy under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Linza R. Cotton at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was instilled with the morals and values of Christ. He displayed his Christian upbringing daily by being humble, patient, caring and loving. He was always looking for ways to elevate himself as a young man. Christopher graduated from Varnado High School in 2015 . He always worked hard and was employed at Hood Industries in Bogalusa, La. Christopher Jr. was a country boy at heart. His love for life extended to the things that brought him joy such as  riding horses  and 4-wheelers. As Christopher progressed in life, he found his true passion which was rapping. Music was an immense part of his life and he used his lyrics to express what was deep in his spirit. He took pride in his work and kept his art close to his heart. Christopher was a talented artist and he was known by the name Beezy and for his amazing lyrics. The light of his life was his precious daughter A’Nylah Matthews, and his biggest accomplishment in his life was exemplifying being a great father.

Christopher leaves his precious memories to his mother, Rozuanda (Deacon William) Youngblood and Elder  Christopher (Lachante) Matthews, Sr. He leaves his beautiful legacy to his daughter A’Nylah Matthews, his maternal grandmother Rosetta Burrell, his siblings Krystle Matthews, Courtney Matthews, Morgan Youngblood, Chrislyn Matthews, Tyrandis Crosby, Preston Spikes, Christian Matthews, Crishun Matthews, Wildarius Smith, Darius Magee, Laterra (Jermel) Youngblood-Hammond, Larreshia (Davyonu) Cooley; his aunts: Stephanie (Ernest) Spikes, Kimberly Nichols, Robyn (T’Arny) Sheridan, Yolanda (Horace) Price, Vanessa Matthews, Tonica (Gerald) Johnson Josephine Moore, Onia Youngblood, and Etta Bell; his uncles: Darris 

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on June 20, 2025 at Cook-Richmond & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. 

A Family Gathering will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on June 20, 2025 at Mary's Chapel UM Church in Angie.

The Funeral Service will be at 12:00 PM on June 21, 2025 at Mary's Chapel UM Church in Angie.
