Aran May Carter Nicholson

September 30, 1934 - June 13, 2025

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, your love beyond words and missed beyond measure. Only for a moment you stayed but what an imprint your footprints have left on our lives and hearts.

Aran May Carter Nicholson, known in her early years as Billie Jean  but her siblings called her “Bill”, was born on September 30, 1934, to the late Monroe and JoAnna Thompson May. She was the sixth child of fourteen. 

Aran moved to Los Angeles, CA and met and married the love of her life, Joseph Carter. To this Union, three children were born: Stanley, Jon, Devanna Gwen.

Upon returning to Louisiana after the death of her husband Joseph, Aran became a member of St. John Temple COGIC under the leadership of Bishop John White. Later she united with Glorious Church under the leadership of Elder Victor Robinson, Sr. where she served until her health failed. 

Aran loved the Lord with all her heart. She held prayer meeting and bible study in her home. While ministering in the service of the Lord, Aran met and married Evangelist Robert Nicholson. Together they witnessed and ministered to bring lost souls to Christ.

On Friday, June 13, 2025 in Little Rock, AR, Aran finished her work and moved to her new home. You can find her at her II Timothy 478 Blvd Lane, Heaven. She was ninety years old. Oh, what a life lived in the service of the Lord. Well done thou good and faithful servant.

Aran was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Joanna Thompson May, her husbands, Joseph Carter and Evangelist Robert Nicholson; her daughter; Devanna Gwen (Bonda) Carter; five brothers, Curtis May, Leroy May, Harline May, Terry May and Monroe May; five sisters, Baby Yvonne May, Vergie Lee Robinson, Lois Smith, Ernestine (Monica) Ball and Irma Lee May Taylor.

Aran leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Stanley Carter of Little Rock , AR, Jon (Celeste) Carter of Pittsburg, PA; three daughters, Phalia Carter of Little Rock, AR, Teretha Carter of Bogalusa, LA, Rochelle Greenup of New Orleans, LA; three brothers, Jerry (Tommie Louise) May, David (Jessie) May and Perry (Lucille) May all of Angie, LA; one sister Vernell Esper of Irvine, CA; nine grandchildren, Shaketta (Herbert) Lavender, Porscha Carter, Brandon Hardin, Bryanna Carter, Bryetta Carter, Jon Carter, Phasia Carter, Akasha and Keaton Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren,  Shakera, Shakayla, Tyrese, Delmonte, Jayvyn, Jalil, Ashed Jr., Jaymion, LaBrighton, Mason, Akasia, Zamaria, and Amariyah; a special son Antonio McFarland San Antonio, Tx. and host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 11:00AM - 12:00PM followed by the funeral service at 12:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel 809 E. Third Street Bogalusa, LA, 70427.  with Elder Victor Robinson, Sr.- Officiating. Interment will be held at the Robinson Cemetery in Varnado, LA. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
