Obituary

Johnny Lamar Brendel

September 3, 1959 - April 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johnny Lamar Brendel, age 65, who left this world peacefully at his home in Bogalusa, Louisiana, on April 30, 2025. A master carpenter, Johnny dedicated his life to his craft, transforming raw materials into exquisite creations that echoed his love for artistry and hard work. Whether constructing a family home or meticulously building a birdhouse, his skill and passion were evident in every project he undertook.

Johnny relished the simple pleasures of life, often found riding his beloved Harley Davidson through the scenic landscapes or embracing the great outdoors, where he found solace in the gentle wind, the song of birds, and the ever-changing sky above. He was a man who understood the beauty of life’s fleeting moments and celebrated them wholeheartedly.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Leslie Brendel, who stood by his side with unwavering strength; his four cherished children: Melissa Brendel Lacoste (Kane), Jesse Lee Brendel, Jason Brendel, and Tiffany Brendel; as well as his grandchildren, who brought light to his life: London Faith Lacoste, Logan Okeefe Brendel, Lexi Nichole Brendel, Jonathan Coy Griffith, Jr., Kaden Lee Green, Jaxon Liam Green, Chandler Brendel, and Wayne Brendel. Johnny also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Ember Blake, Brystal Lynn Brendel, and Waden Brendel.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Timothy Brendel; grandson, Jared Lamar Brendel; and his parents, Ej Brendel and Nell Holland, who welcomed him into the embrace of eternity.

Memorial services for Johnny will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his life and legacy. The family invites all who knew him to join in these cherished ceremonies, celebrating a man who truly embraced life with love and joy.

Johnny's final arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-McGehee Funeral Home. As we commemorate his memory, may we find comfort in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the enduring love he instilled in us all. Rest in peace, dear Johnny—your craftsmanship and spirit will forever be a part of our lives.
