Janette Thomas Ahlman

August 9, 1939 - May 15, 2025

Janette Thomas Ahlman, age 85 and a lifelong resident of the Thomas Community, passed away peacefully Thursday night May 15, 2025 at her home. She was a longtime active member of Thomas First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the WMU. Janette also volunteered at all the church events, dinners or other special gatherings. After graduating high school, she obtained a business degree in Baton Rouge and began a 20 year career with South Central Bell before retiring. Janette enjoyed traveling and she and her husband visited several states on the west coast, Alaska, Washington, D.C. and other areas throughout the country. She collected antiques and enjoyed visiting large garage sales, hoping to find the perfect treasure. Janette adored her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: Husband of 56 years: Tommy Ahlman of Thomas; Son: Ronald Bello of Denham Springs; Daughter and Son in law: Nicole and Sean Caldwell of Thomas; Grandchildren and Spouses: Blake and Ashley Bello, Cody and Whitney Bello, John-Thomas Caldwell, Connor Caldwell; 6 Great-grandchildren: Audrey, Brynlee, Presley, Corbin, Harlyn, Bryce; Sister: Ledonia Hill; Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many dear friends

She was preceded in death by her parents Commodore Thomas and Marie Ard Thomas, daughter in law Karen Bello, sister Isabelle Hayman, sisters and brothers in law Elizabeth and Herman Thomas, Ada Merle and Tony Menish, Waver and Houston Jordan, brothers and sisters in law Phillip Ray and Shirley Thomas, Doug and Christine Thomas, Simon and Elizabeth Thomas, brother Dewey Thomas and other family members.

A graveside funeral service will be held in the Thomas Cemetery at 2:00 pm Sunday May 18th with Rev. Tom Descant officiating.
