James Denman "J D" Broadway

June 30, 1943 - May 22, 2025

James Denman "J D" Broadway, age 81 and a lifelong resident of the Stony Point Community, passed away Thursday morning May 22, 2025 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born in Franklinton on June 30, 1943. J D dedicated his life to the dairy production and bottling industry. He began his 33 year career of hard work as a teenager at Sam Smith’s Creamery, working also for A&P, Flavor Rich and Borden’s then serving with Dairymen, Inc. for many years before retiring. J D proudly served his community and country with the Louisiana Army-National Guard. One of his favorite pastimes was training and running beagles with his close friends. He was a simple man who found joy in the little things. J D was deeply devoted to his family and was a loyal friend to many. He was a longtime active member of San Pedro Missionary Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by: Wife of 52 years: Kathryn Jenkins Broadway; Son: Alan “Sport” Broadway; Grandchildren and a Spouse: Dusty and Timberly Milton, Sarah Broadway, Chance Broadway; Sister: Joanne Mixon; Also survived by numerous beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Renee Broadway, parents Chance Denman Broadway and Myrtis Sarah Seals, sisters Dorothy O’Bryant, Martha Broadway, father in law and mother in law O.C. and Beatrice Jenkins and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday May 25th from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm Sunday with Eld. Burdette Thomas and Rev. Walter Mixon officiating. Burial will follow in the San Pedro Baptist Church Cemetery.
