According to testimony from the trial, LBI received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child sexual abuse images had been uploaded through a Tumblr account associated with a particular IP address. In connection with the tip, digital copies of two images and one video were provided to LBI. An agent reviewed the digital files and confirmed they contained child pornography. An investigation linked the IP address to the defendant’s residence in Mandeville. LBI agents obtained a search warrant for the residence and executed the warrant.
When agents arrived at the residence to conduct the search, they encountered Jason Lee inside the residence. During questioning, Lee admitted to utilizing a cloud-based storage site out of New Zealand to store child sexual abuse images. He explained to agents how he obtained the images via Tumblr. Agents were able to access Lee’s cloud-based storage account and found hundreds of child sexual abuse images and videos in his account. A vast number of the images and videos depicted adults engaged in various sexual acts with children ranging in age from newborn/infant to preteen.
