April 19, 1949 - March 27, 2025

"The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever." 1 John 2:17

Elder L Vee McGee Berry was born in Slidell, LA on April 19, 1949 by midwife to the late Robert Daniel McGee (Jack) and Missionary Hattie Mona Smith (MeMe).

L Vee was known for her various talents, witty sense of humor, and unique sense of style; just to name a few. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, tending to her plants while gardening, and ministering to anyone in need of encouraging words through prayer. As an adolescent, she grew fond of reading and loved to write poetry. She aspired to become a writer having one of her poems, “Loves Dream,” published in Modern Romance Magazine in 1975. In 1970, despite racial discrimination and through much determination, she attended the Adult Education Center located in New Orleans, LA. It was there she obtained vital skills in business education which assisted her in landing a job with Stennis Space Center. L Vee also obtained her cosmetology license in 1983. While working full time, she attended Delgado Community College and graduated with an Associates of Business Administration Degree in 2002. She retired after working for the government a total of 23 years. She was a faithful member of Thirkield United Methodist Church in Bogalusa, LA until her departure.

She is preceded in death, by her parents, Robert and Hattie; her son, Gregory McGee; siblings, Robert “Junia” Hutchinson, Robert Daniel McGee, Jr. (Fannie) and Shirly Ruth Magee.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Trinell McGee-Goodly and Blaisher Berry; bonus daughters, Melissa Berry-Tucker, Jennifer Berry, and Lena Terrell, as well as her grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nolan Robinson – Officiating. Interment will be in the Ponemah Cemetery.
