Rachel Anne Ramsey
November 4, 1946 - April 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Rachel Anne Ramsey at the age of 78, who departed this life on April 2, 2025, at Lakeview Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. A cherished resident of Bogalusa, LA, Rachel dedicated over 30 years of her life to the Bogalusa City Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with her kindness and unwavering commitment to education.
Born on November 4, 1946, Rachel was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a special gift for sewing, creating beautiful blankets that provided comfort and warmth to those she loved. Her passion for gardening brought joy to her life, much like the peaceful days spent fishing by the water. Above all, Rachel found her greatest joy in her family—especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Known for her delightful pound cakes, she made every celebration sweeter, filling her home with love and laughter.
Rachel's legacy continues through her devoted husband of 58 years, Mr. Robert “Bob” Ramsey; her three daughters, Shonda Burdeaux (Robbie), Stacey Ramsey, and Sarah Ramsey (Lee Simmons); her six grandchildren, Zachary Estrada, Christie Burdeaux, Brianna Estrada, Benjamin Burdeaux, Landon Simmons, and Cooper Simmons; and her five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Chandler, Greyson, Talon, and Raelynn Rose. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brad Alan Ramsey; her father, Thomas Russell; and her mother and "Pop," Maxine and James Blackwell.
Funeral services will be held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11 AM, followed by a service at 2 PM, officiated by Bro. Robbie. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Rachel's remarkable life, share memories, and celebrate the love she brought into our lives.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Rachel for her boundless love and the happiness she found in the simple joys of life. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
