RCC's Dog Tracking Team & Drones Locate Missing Angie-area Man

On Thursday (March 20, 2025) at approximately 10:00 AM, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence northwest of Angie in reference to a possible missing person. The call came in from a private caregiver who showed up to work at 8:00 AM to find that the blind, elderly man who she sat with during the day was not in his home.

WPSO deputies searched the area and called relatives attempting to locate the missing man, and shortly after 11:00 AM, reached out to Rayburn Correctional Facility’s dog tracking team for assistance. RCC’s team deployed their tracking dogs, along with a surveillance drone, and began searching the area in grids.

The man was located at approximately 12:45 PM, about 300 yards from his residence and besides being lost, was otherwise in good health and spirits.

Sheriff Smith and his deputies who worked the scene would like to express their gratitude to RCC’s tracking team for their rapid deployment and successful use of dogs and a surveillance drone to locate the missing man.
