Evelyn L. Moss
March 25, 1954 - March 9, 2025
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for
me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” - II Timothy 4:7-8
On Sunday, March 9, 2025, our Beloved Mrs. Evelyn L. Moss, who was a mother, a wife, grandmother, sister, and her proudest title “an Ordained Minister.” Mrs. Moss was a faithful servant of God. She entered her eternal rest in Heaven, where she will sing praises unto the Lord. Mrs. Moss was born at Bogalusa Charity Hospital to Maude Mangrum and Jacob Sartin. At an early age she gave her life to God at Mt. Bethel MBC under the leadership of Rev. Owens.
At a tender age, Evelyn was noted to be musically inclined. She and her siblings traveled and sang songs of praise in a group named The Spiritual Six Angels.
Evelyn attended Central Memorial High School and graduated with the first class that integrated with Bogalusa High School in 1972. Shortly after high school she was united in marriage to Curtis Moss, Jr. They have been inseparable since then with 45 strong years of marriage. She bore four children, which was her joy. She dedicated herself to her family and her life to serving others and spreading love with God in her heart. In 1986 Thessalonians Worship Church was founded, under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Moss, Jr. and she served as First Lady, Choir Director, and Worship Leader.
Her presence and aura lit up any room, no matter where she was in life. Her smile was infectious, she created an ambiance with her sweet gentle sprit, that left a mark on whomever she encountered. She was compassionate and had an unwavering faith. Evelyn Moss was a rare jewel, with a heart of gold. She was an advisor, a confidant, and the list goes on.
Her broken body is healed, she is whole again. No more pain, and no more suffering. Now she is rejoicing and singing praises for the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband , Curtis Moss Jr., her mother Maude Mangrum; her children, Carl (Dominique)Moss, Shawanna (Ronald) Wilson, Christina Moss, Judonya (Romel) Harris, Curtis (Chrishay) Moss III, Derek (Janell) Moss; her sisters, Lena Mangrum Foster, and Cindy Mangrum and Shanda (Alfred) Hines; her brothers, Gregory (Terri) Mangrum and Frederick Mangrum, her 23 grandkids; CarDeja, Passion, K.J., Carlyn, Carlia, Joshua, Jevianna, Ja’Kirstan, Jayla, Shamar, Desean, Kamaya, Iliyah, Curtis, Ja’Kaelyn, Ja’Kyla, Christopher, Caleb, Ravin, Rasheed, Amanda, Romerro, Derek and 19 great-grandchildren, other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
