Elder Billy Ray Hines
January 27, 1941 - March 4, 2025

Elder Billy Ray Hines, age 84 of Bogalusa, LA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 4th, 2025. Brother Hines was an ordained Baptist minister for 59 years and pastored many churches in Louisiana and Mississippi. He has been a member of Terrace Baptist Church for 65 years and served as their pastor a total of 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jason and Lizzie Thomas Hines; brothers Clayton Hines and Mark Hines and Elder Silas Thomas; sister, Ida Nell Hines Wright; brother in laws, Winfred Passman and Billy Wright; sister in law, Lela Thomas; and two great grandchildren, Mia Hope Cerda-Duncan and Chapel Rae Dykes.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 65 years, Glenda Sue Hines, two daughters, Rhonda (Billy) Penton of Bogalusa, LA and Monica (Eld. Jerry) Duncan of Mt. Olive, MS and one son, Aaron (Melissa) Hines of Bogalusa, LA. Also 7 grandchildren: Amy (Chris) Anderson, Leanne (Tom) Smith, Jennifer Duncan, M’Kayla (Joey) Dykes, M’Kenna (Isaac) Cerda, Courtney Hines, and Brooke Hines. Also, 10 great grandchildren: Aiden and Claire Anderson, Ema and Allie Smith, Eden Wilkerson, Sofia and Chloe Cerda-Duncan, Magnolia and South Dykes, and Matilda Hines. Also, 2 sister in laws, Gayle Hines and Dorothy Hines.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm - 9 pm on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 and resume at 9 am on Friday, March 7th, 2025 until time for the Funeral Service at 1 pm at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, LA. The service will be conducted by Elders Jerry Duncan, Eddie Hartfield, Billy Pierce, and Lynn Martin.
Interment following at Pine Community Cemetery. Pallbearers include Billy Penton, Chris Anderson, Tom Smith, Joey Dykes, Aiden Anderson, and Bryce Graham. Honorary Pallbearers include Chris Foster, Wendell Stogner, Grant Stogner, Brink Hillman, Thomas Prine, and Robert McCain.
