Obituary

Brenda Harriet Martin Samford

June 6, 1941 – March 10, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Harriet Martin Samford, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world surrounded by love. She was 83 years old.

Brenda was the heart of her family, a woman whose kindness and warmth lit up the room. She dedicated her life to her children and home, always putting the needs of her family above all else. She was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word, not just in keeping a house, but in creating a place of love, comfort, and unwavering support.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zarnoff Samford, who passed in 2001; her beloved son, Troy Samford; her grandson, Mark Samford; her parents, Harry Martin and Pearl Martin; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, H.W. Samford and Ivera Samford; her brother-in-law, Shirkee Samford; and her niece, Donna Singleton.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Delee Samford; her sons, Travis Samford and Trent Samford; her grandchildren, Joshua Samford, Tyler Samford, and Ashley Pate; and her great-grandchildren: Gavin Samford, Rosa Samford and Joshua Samford, Jr. Each of them carries a piece of her gentle spirit and boundless love.

To know Brenda was to know kindness. She rarely spoke a harsh word and had a way of making everyone around her feel special. Her love was quiet but powerful, steady but immeasurable. She was a reminder of a kind of goodness that seems rare in the world today.

Though we grieve her loss, we are forever grateful for the time we had with her. The world is a little dimmer without her, but her light lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

A small service will be held at her graveside on Wednesday, 3/12/2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Ponemah Cemetery with Rev. Larry Lassley officiating.

Rest peacefully, Brenda. You were deeply loved, and you will be dearly missed.
