On Wednesday (March 26, 2025), Slidell Police started investigating a multi-state shoplifting spree. During the investigation, officers located the suspects driving in the area after shoplifting from a nearby retailer. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the suspects, and as the vehicle pulled over, a passenger got out. Officers began placing the passenger in handcuffs, and as soon as the handcuffs went on, the driver took off in the vehicle while the passenger bolted on foot - STILL IN HANDCUFFS! The passenger was spotted getting into a Lyft ride-share vehicle several blocks away, arrested again, and taken to jail on felony theft and resisting charges.
The driver has managed to evade capture for the time being, but Louisiana State Police located the vehicle, which was unoccupied.
