Obituary

Donald Long

September 25, 1963 - February 22, 2025

Donald Long, age 61 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Saturday afternoon February 22, 2025 at his home after a lengthy illness. He worked as a truck driver for several years but was well known for serving his community as a fireman for many years. Donald was an active member of the Washington Parish Fire Departments in Pine and most recently Mount Hermon. He was quick to respond to each and every call for help and was dedicated to serving others. Along with other local volunteers, he took supplies and food to fire departments in areas dealing with natural disasters like Texas, Tennessee and many others. He always enjoyed serving during the Washington Parish Fair and using the fire department to collect toys for children in need. Each Christmas, Donald would supply the Fair Haven Children’s Home with much needed gifts because he had such a Big Heart for the young children. He also served with the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office for several years. He enjoyed planting a garden every year and loved riding his old tractor. Donald liked to watch his favorite veterinarian show The Incredible Doctor Pol and spend time with his family and friends.
