Jerry Airlon Hunt

June 30, 1940 - January 31, 2025

Jerry A. Hunt, age 84 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Friday afternoon January 31, 2025 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was retired after a long career in construction, working on countless projects large and small. Jerry was always proud to have been one of the hundreds of men to help construct the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, and he remembered much about the specifics every time he crossed. He worked alongside his son and family with Bruce Hunt Construction for several years, building many homes and businesses around the area. Jerry loved hunting and was a founding member of the Horseshoe Hunting Club. He also kept a nice set of deer dogs that he liked working with. Jerry also enjoyed fishing for catfish in the Bogue Chitto River. He attended Mount Zion United Pentecostal Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: 3 Grandsons and Spouses: Jason and Diana Jordan of Ponchatoula, Ryan Hunt, Lee and Kayla Hunt all of Franklinton; Great-grandchildren: Brody, Wesley, Ava, Kolby, Hayden, Knox; Brother: Leverett Hunt; Sister: Virginia Hunt; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many hunting buddies and friends

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Jean Jenkins Hunt, daughter Sharon Hunt Jordan, son Bruce Edward Hunt, parents Malachi Hunt and Alma Newman Hunt, brother Lindsey Hunt and other family members.

Visitation will be at Mount Zion Pentecostal Church (18018 Lee Road, Franklinton) on Tuesday February 4th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Wednesday with Rev. Leon Hickman and Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Tyson Cemetery.
