Gloria Armagnac Asprion
April 15, 1922 - February 19, 2025
Gloria Armagnac Asprion, age 102 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning February 19, 2025. She was born in El Paso, Texas on April 15, 1922 and lived a blessed, long life full of learning, traveling, caring for others and fun times with her family. Gloria moved to New Orleans to attend the Charity School of Nursing in 1943 and was a registered nurse serving at Charity Hospital, Ochsner and Baptist Hospital in New Orleans for many years before returning to El Paso. There she continued to serve patients in the Health Department, clinics and the home health field. In the early 1990s, she was honored by President George H. W. Bush in Washington, D.C. for the years of dedicated service to her community. Gloria retired from nursing in 1998, but continued to help others by developing a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in El Paso before fully retiring and moving to Franklinton to be near her family and grandchildren for the last 20 years.
Gloria was an avid reader that had a lifelong desire to learn, going back to college in her 70s to learn French before traveling to France, dabbling in painting for a time, and taking her grandchildren on vacations she knew to be educational, but just fun times to them. She was a big sports fan, especially football. God and Family were always first in her life, forever proven by the compassion she had for those in need and the blessing she was to her loved ones and everyone she met.
