Four New Washington Parish Corrections Deputies

Press Release from the Washington Parish Sheriff

On Thursday (January 30, 2025), four Washington Parish Sheriff’s Deputies graduated from POST-3 academy, where they were trained to be professional corrections officers by a cadre of instructors with vast experience in corrections and law enforcement.

This 3-week course prepares deputies for a career of working inside corrections facilities, proper care and handling of inmates, security and enforcement, non-lethal weapons training, and familiarizes them with the laws that dictate their profession.

Sheriff Smith has made POST certification training a priority for all deputies, putting our uniformed men and women in the best position possible to have long and successful careers as law enforcement professionals and giving them the necessary tools to serve the citizens of Washington Parish with honor.

Welcome to the team, and best of luck from everyone here at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office as you navigate your career in law enforcement. Congratulations to Deputy Corey Knight, Deputy Hunter Cook, Deputy Alex Martin, and Deputy Aaron Holloman.
