Allenda Marie Boutwell Pigott

July 12, 1946 - January 14, 2025

Allenda Marie Boutwell Pigott, age 78 and of Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed away on January 14, 2025. She was born on July 12, 1946, in Carriere, Mississippi, and lived a life devoted to her family, volunteering in her community, and historical preservation.

Allenda was a graduate of Bogalusa High School, where she met the love of her life, William Thomas “W.T.” Pigott. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 29, 2025. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication, raising their daughter, Heather Leigh Pigott McDaniel, and later welcoming their beloved grandson, Cael McDaniel.

Throughout her career, Allenda worked for the State Highway Department as a mapmaker before joining Crown Zellerbach, where she worked until 1986. After retiring, she became a bus driver, demonstrating the same dedication and reliability that defined every aspect of her life.

Allenda was deeply committed to her community, particularly through her involvement in the American Legion Auxiliary Post #24, where she served in multiple leadership roles, including President, Vice President, Membership Chairman, and Scholarship Chairman. She was also a member of the Louisiana Paper Queen Committee.

Her love for history and preservation was evident in her work with Mile Branch Settlement. She served as Co-Chair of the Pigott Cabin and later became Chairman in 2016. Allenda was instrumental in drafting a map of Washington Parish, which still hangs in Mt. Hermon School, and she also created a new map of Mile Branch Settlement, featured in the 2022 Company’s Comin’ Mile Branch Cook Book. In recognition of her dedication, she was named the Mile Branch Settlement Honoree in 2022.

Allenda also dedicated countless volunteer hours to the Washington Parish Fair. She served as Catalog Chairman (1987-1991), co-chaired Junior Fine Arts (1988-2012), and remained on the committee until 2019. Additionally, she was appointed as a Ward V Board Member of the Washington Parish Fair Association, serving from 2013 to 2024.

She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend—always loyal, kind, and giving. She is survived by her loving husband, William Thomas “W.T.” Pigott, her daughter Heather Pigott McDaniel, her son-in-law Charles “Bubba” McDaniel, and her grandson Cael McDaniel. She also leaves behind her niece Brenda Hunt Hearn (James), nephews Charles “Chuck” Hunt (Sharon) and Richard Hunt (Haley), along with many great-nieces and nephews. Her two beloved pets, MoJo and Stitch, were also dear to her heart.

Allenda was preceded in death by her parents, Lilly Marie Pigott Boutwell and James Allen Boutwell.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, with the service following at 2:00 PM.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allenda Pigott’s name to Mile Branch Settlement (Pigott Cabin). Contributions may be sent to: Mile Branch Settlement (In Memory of Allenda Pigott - Pigott Cabin), P.O. Box 574, Franklinton, LA 70438

Allenda’s legacy of dedication, kindness, and service will live on in the community she loved so dearly.
