John Andrew Taylor

April 15, 1947 - January 2, 2025

John Andrew Taylor, age 77 and a resident of the Canaan Community, passed away Thursday morning January 2, 2025 at his home. He was retired after 35 years serving as a manager and supervisor of the road crew for the Washington Parish Government Police Jury. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Annapolis during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Ireland. John was a longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church. He loved white perch fishing and woodworking, making different types of furniture and other items. John also made many wooden toys and rocking chairs for his nieces, nephews and others. He always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife of 44 years: Joann Seal Taylor of the Canaan Community; Son: Andrew Taylor; Sister: Sylvia Taylor Fussell of Franklinton; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Walt and Sally Seal, Alice and Wayne DeVries, Tommy Seal; Also numerous beloved nieces, nephews and their families

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Taylor and Jonteel Busby Taylor, father in law and mother in law Bernice and Maxine Seal, several brothers in law, sisters in law and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday January 6th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
