Carolyn Jones McGlothlin
June 26, 1940 - January 19, 2025
Carolyn Jones McGlothlin, age 84 and a resident of the Enon Community, passed away early Sunday morning January 19, 2025. She was retired after a career in secretarial work at the Louisiana State Capital in Baton Rouge and later for many years at Franklinton High School. Carolyn also had her Real Estate license and worked in that field all around the area for several years. She was a member of the Winterset Club and Franklinton Women’s Club. Carolyn had a green thumb and was devoted to ensuring her gardens were always beautiful. She was also very connected to nature. It was a daily joy to watch the various types of wildlife visit her backyard. She was especially fond of her many hummingbirds and her pet cat “Jersey Mike”. Carolyn had a shared joy of cooking with her son and always looked forward to entertaining friends and family with delicious meals and a beautifully decorated table.
She had a passion for traveling with her daughter Jennifer. Together they journeyed to many interesting destinations around the world. Carolyn loved meeting new people and exploring different places and cultures. She also appreciated antiques and was an avid collector. Reading and solving various types of puzzles were other favorite pastimes. Carolyn most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren, never missing their sporting events, awards ceremonies, theater productions or the family’s annual trip to Disney World. She was forever a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Survived by: Husband of 55 years: Ronald Earl McGlothlin of Enon; Son: Donald Luther Wilson of Ocean Springs, MS; 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Jennifer Griffith of Madisonville, Susan and Lance Myrick of Hattiesburg, MS; Grandchildren: Madeline Griffith, Jack Griffith, Ryan and Mary Alice Myrick, Michael and Stacee Myrick; Great-grandchildren: Waylan, Emma, Brody, Gracie; Brother in law and Sisters in law: Robert and Norma McGlothlin, Shari Hall; Also numerous nieces, nephews and their families
She was preceded in death by her parents William Jones and Roxie Sharp Jones, brother Sidney Jones, brother and sister in law Carlos “Cooter” and Sue Jones, father in law Robert W. McGlothlin, mother in law Grace Loncavish and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Saturday January 25th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
