On December 31, 2024 around 2:30am, a Ponchatoula PD Officer was patrolling the area of E. Pine Street and Chevrolet Street when he heard multiple gunshots and noticed a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Hammond PD assisted in the foot pursuit and apprehended one of the suspects, 20-year-old Kyle Nutter. Nutter was carrying a backpack that contained a loaded .22 long rifle handgun, and the vehicle was reported as stolen.

Kyle Nutter was charged with 1 count Aggravated Flight from Officer, 1 count Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 1 count Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, 1 count Assault by Drive-By Shooting, and 2 Failure to Appears.

Ponchatoula PD and Hammond PD are working together to identify all the individuals that were involved and additional warrants are forthcoming.

The victim’s home and vehicle on Chevrolet Street contained numerous bullet holes, but no one was injured.
