Bogalusa Police Report Austin St. Shooting Leaves One Deceased, One in Critical Condition

On Thursday (January 2, 2025), at approximately 10:10pm, Officers with the Bogalusa Police Department were dispatched to Austin St. near Redmond St. in reference to possible fireworks being used in the area. 

Shortly after, BPD received a call from the Lamar County EMS, who was in the area on an unrelated matter, advising that they were approached by a male, who had been shot and were transporting the male to Our Lady of the Angels hospital. The subject was treated by hospital staff and is now listed in critical condition. 

After further investigation, Officers were able to locate the scene of a shooting that took place on Austin St at the intersection of Villery St., where Officers located another male subject who was deceased on the scene. 

At this time, Detectives believe the shooting occurred between the two males for reasons still unknown. 

Names of the parties involved are being withheld at this time pending notification to families and further investigation.
