Barbara Ann Washington Tate May was born to the late William Washington and Bessie Brumfield in Franklinton, LA on October 25, 1941, she departed her earthly life on December 20, 2024, at 8:20 at her home.
She attended Washington Parish School where she was a majorette. She soon married the late Causey Larry Tate and became a manager at May Street Group Home. She loved her clients and staff, and they loved her dearly. She retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Later in life she met and married the love of her life, Harlin May and they were married eight years until his death.
She leaves to cherish her children, Frankie Anders, Kimberly Tate of Franklinton, LA, Sharon (Erskin) Burris of Bogalusa, LA, Barbara (Greg) Carr of Reidville, GA, Larry (Stacey) Tate of the Philippines, Timothy (Tamnika) Tate of Hammond, LA; two bonus daughters, Rose Lowe, and Brenda Anders; twenty-one grandchildren; forty great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Washington; her mother, Bessie Brumfield; her two husbands, Causey Tate and Harlin May; sisters, Marie Moore, Josephine Washington; brothers, George Washington, William “Willie” Washington, Jerry Washington; one grandson, Mark and one granddaughter, Tiffany.
A drive through viewing will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 3:00PM – 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12:00PM at Faith in the Word Ministry with Pastor Jacob Tate, Jr. – Officiating. Interment – Sweet Home Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
