Evie C. Fields

July 16, 1926 - December 10, 2024

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid
up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”   II Timothy 4: 7- 8

Mrs. Evie C. Fields was born July 16, 1926 to the late Mrs. Flora Hammond of Tylertown, Mississippi. She departed this life on December 10, 2024.

At an early age, she moved from Mississippi to Louisiana and worked at Cassaband’s Nursery in Covington, Louisiana.

Mrs. Fields was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. E.D Burns. She later moved her membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Aaron J. Thompson. While at Bethlehem, she was an active member in the Women’s Mission Auxiliary, under Sister Maudessa Brumfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Fields; her mother, Flora Hammond; four daughters, Almeta Robinson, Jo Nell Harry, Kay Wasp, and Dr. Pearl Mitchell; sons, Joseph, and Cedrick Thomas.

Mrs. Evie Fields leaves to cherish her precious memories; her daughters, Alfreda (Burnell), Weary and Josephine (Robert Hicks), Thomas, eighteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1:00PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Christopher Matthews - Pastor Officiating. Interment - Duffy Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
