Ora Dee Brumfield

February 7, 1930 - December 9, 2024

Ora Dee Bell Brumfield was born on February 7, 1930, to the late Martee and Olivia Bell. She was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 94.

She married the late Aswell Brumfield on January 5, 1952, and this union six children were born. She was united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age, and later united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of the Senior Usher Board where she served as President until her health declined. She was also a faithful member of the Sunday School and Senior Mission Department. Her hobbies included baking cakes and working in her flower garden.

Ora Dee is survived by her six children: Brenda West, Janice (Rex), Calvin (Gladys) Brumfield, Alvin (Shanda), Michelle Lynn Brumfield all of Mt. Herman, LA and Gayle (Tobie) Ross of Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Ora Mae Brumfield of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother-in-law, Lamar M. James of Mt. Herman; twelve grandchildren, Quinta James, Kevin Hart, Jessica Mitchum, Darien Dyson, Shanette Daniels, Alvin Brumfield, Jr. Trey Brumfield, Jonathon Brumfield, Olivia Roberts, Jalin Reece, Roquita Tate and a host of great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Aswell Brumfield; father, Martee Bell; mother, Olivia Bell; two sisters, Mary Lee Gatlin and Eva Nell Hart; two brothers, Louis C. Bell and James D. Bell; one son-in-law, Richard Earl West.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 3:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Saulsberry, Sr. Pastor Officiating. Interment - Mt. Olive Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
