Carol Ann Butler was born to the late Reverend Nathaniel and Lolita Butler on August 28, 1948. She was born and raised in Madisonville, La. She attended Covington Rosenwald School and graduated in 1967.

Carol met Marshell Brumfield in 1966 and began a serious courtship. They married on April 5, 1968. To this union of 56 years, they were blessed with 4 children (2 daughters and 2 sons).

After the birth of their 2 daughters, the family moved to Sacramento, Ca. where they lived for 7 years. During that time, Carol graduated from a Licensed Practice Nursing School and worked as an LPN for Kaiser Sacramento Medical Center. During this time, their 4th and final son came along. While working at St. Tammany Hospital, she became a Certified Phlebotomist and worked in that capacity for a short time. She retired from the hospital after approximately 20 years.

After her retirement, she was called to return to the workforce in a different capacity. Still in the position to care for others, she became a school bus driver for St. Tammany Parish Public Schools. She drove for approximately 10 years before retiring.

Carol loved the Lord and was a willing servant to be used whenever called. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her early church experience was at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville, La. and later joined Midway Church of Christ Holiness, USA with her husband and growing family. The family moved to Sacramento, Ca. in 1970. While living in Sacramento, she joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in various auxiliaries such as choir, and the Deaconess board. She also sung in a Sacramento Mass Choir. When she wasn’t in church, she was active with a local bowling league.

She was a member of the Deaconess Board, Christian Women Willing Workers II (CWWW II), the Adult and Senior Choir, Midway Church’s adult drill team, Sunday School teacher, and she helped coordinate the summer vacation bible school programs.
