Larry Charles "Wheatie" Magee
June 18, 1925 - December 5, 2024
John 11:25-26 is a verse from the Bible. In the King James Version (KJV 1900), it reads: "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
Larry Charles "Wheatie" Magee passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 5, 2024 at Our Lady Of the Angels in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Larry was born May 20 1950 to Mabel Hall Magee and Odell Magee in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Larry was married to Kathy Jenkins in Oct 1972 to this union 3 children.
At an early age he joined Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr Tom Bailey Jr. as a faithful Usher.
Larry entered the Job Corps in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1967 to 1968. He earned a certification in culinary and carpentry. Larry utilized his master carpenter skills for over 60 years building many homes in the surrounding areas before going to his mansion in the sky. He enjoyed cooking and watching westerns whenever he wasn't helping someone with a problem with their home. Mr Larry worked with the Seal Lumber Company and then Bogalusa housing authority. He also worked at King supply and Chicken king for many years. His later years he worked maintenance with Don Speirs alongside with his friend Clayton Wilson for over 20 years.
He is survived by Charles Magee of Austin, TX, Barry (Dementris Smith) Magee San Antonio TX, and Patrick (Dr. Lori Banks) Magee of Cypress, TX; sisters, Joan (Ronnie Storks) of Vicksburg, MS, and Lishia (Steve Hill) of New Orleans, LA. He was lovingly called Paw Paw Larry by his grandkids. There wasn't one person who he didn't offer a helping hand to in any way until his untimely sickness. Grandchildren, Patrick Jeremiah, Breanna, Daisha, Berri, Brenndan, Auri and Adriana. He raised as his own along side Ellen Carter, Krystal Mondy, and Karla Robinson and grandchildren, Donel, Erica, Eddrick, and Elijah of Bogalusa LA.
He will be sadly missed by his Nieces, nephews, friends, brother, sisters-in-laws, and cousins. Also a very special brother, Mr. Clayton Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Mabel Magee. One brother, Robert "Brother" Magee; his niece, Molly Karen Williams.
A drive through viewing will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 3:00PM - 5:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:30AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Sidney Burns, Jr. - Officiating. Interment - Bogalusa Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
