Frances Brumfield Smith

January 6, 1949 - December 3, 2024

I have a fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is
laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.   2 Timothy 4:7-8

Frances Brumfield Smith, age 75, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and foremost a true servant of God departed her earthly home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Frances was born January 6, 1949 to the late Oless & Willene J. Brumfield. She was the oldest daughter of ten children. She took great pleasure in helping others and baking special treats. She will forever be remembered for her humble, caring, selfless demeanor, for being fully committed to God and loving her family with all her heart.

She was a 1967 graduate of Washington Parish High School. After graduating, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Dillard University for one year and then transferred to and completed Spencer Business College. She worked for Medicaid with the state of Louisiana for over 28 years.

She was united in holy matrimony on June 26, 1971 to the late Larry Smith and from their union they conceived and raised two children; Tiffany Rachelle and Justin Kyle.

Frances was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. She was a faithful and devoted member of the New Life Church of Christ Holiness (U.S.A.) under the leadership of Elder Archie C. Brown. She was also a charter member of her local church, where she served as a former Deaconess President, member of the UCWM, Usher Board member, also worked with the Daughters of Esther, and served in the Music Ministry over the years until her health began to decline.

Frances leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughter, Tiffany Rachelle Smith of Slidell, LA and devoted son, Justin Kyle Smith of New Orleans, LA; one beloved grandson, Gerald Terrell Williams, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; three brothers, Gerald Oless (Laura) Brumfield of New Orleans, LA, Ervin Lamont Brumfield, Sr. of Houston, TX, and William Isaac Brumfield of Franklinton, LA; one beloved sister, Merita Denise (Willie) Terry of Forney, TX; beloved aunt, Ada Mae Brumfield of Franklinton, LA and a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, and friends.

Sister Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Oless & Willene J. Brumfield; husband, Larry Smith; four brothers, Alvin S. Brumfield, Richard Brumfield, Preston W. Brumfield and Alan S. Brumfield; and one sister, Lynetta B. Johnson; aunts, Laura B. Walton and Christine B. Taylor

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness with Elder Archie C. Brown  – Pastor Officiating. Interment – Smith Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
