Virgil O. Rayford, Jr. was booked into the Washington Parish Jail Tuesday (December 10, 2024) morning after being brought in by officials from the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General.
On November 20, 2024, a Washington Parish grand jury indicted 30-year-old Virgil Rayford, Jr. of Bogalusa on two counts of filing false public records and one count of theft valued between $5,000 and $25,000, after which a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The case results from a joint investigation conducted by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s Office regarding a bid proposal submitted to the City of Bogalusa in 2023 to provide mosquito abatement services for the city.
The matter was a topic of discussion at the Legislative Audit Advisory Council on July 18, 2024 at which audit findings were presented, questions asked, and answers given by Mayor Tyrin Truong.
