Toye Courtney
November 19, 1956 - November 10, 2024
Toye Courtney, age 67, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away November 10, 2024, surrounded by love and family. A man of simple joys and great wisdom, Toye found happiness fishing on quiet waters, sitting on his front porch, relaxing by his fire pit, and exploring the outdoors on his side-by-side. He loved building trails through the swamp with his trusty tractor, weaving paths as he wove stories and jokes for his cherished family. Toye retired after a dedicated career as a corrections officer, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and an unshakable sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Married to Mrs. Diane Courtney for 51 years, but together for 55, their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Their testament will be passed on for generations to come.
Toye is survived by his devoted wife: Diane Granger Courtney; one son: Ryan Courtney; a daughter: Cassandra “Nikki” Carpenter (Robert “Scott”); four grandchildren: Megan Adams, Kayla Colunga, Jeremy Passaro, and Hailey Young; four great-grandchildren: Harper Adams, Emmalynn Colunga, Luke Passaro, and Levi Passaro; one sister: Buffie Anglin (William “Biff”); and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilma and Henry Pounds and Frank Courtney; and two brothers: Tracy Courtney and Clyde “Rollon” Courtney.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home proudly serves the Courtney family. Visitation will start in the funeral home chapel Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 5PM until 9PM.
