Martha Dolores McClendon Stevens
September 8, 1937 - November 20, 2024
Martha Dolores McClendon Stevens passed away Wednesday night November 20. 2024 at her residence in Baton Rouge. She was a longtime resident of Franklinton. Dolores was an active member of Sunlight Baptist Church, where she helped serve her church family in many ways through the years. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. Dolores, earlier in life, was a Girl Scout Brownie leader and always enjoyed mentoring the young girls she had the privilege to spend time with. She enjoyed planting and tending to her vegetable garden each year and going camping with her family and friends.
Survived by: Husband of 67 years: John Delmar Stevens of Baton Rouge; Daughter and Son in law: Diane and Ben Mercier of Baton Rouge; Grandchildren and Spouses: Jeremy and Katy Mercier, Rusty and Karli Stevens; Great-grandchildren: Violet Mercier, Benjamin Mercier, John William Stevens; 2 Brothers: Johnnie McClendon, Bill McClendon; Sister in law: Emma Lou Gill; Brothers in law and sister in law: Larry Stevens, Arthur and Voncille Stevens, Roy and Bobbie Stevens; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
She was preceded in death by her son William David Stevens, parents William McClendon and Grace Marie Moak McClendon, sisters in law Gail McClendon, Nancy McClendon and other family members.
Visitation will be at Sunlight Baptist Church (18184 Sunlight Road, Franklinton) on Monday November 25th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Monday with Rev. Leroy McElveen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ELS Autism Foundation or Alzheimer Association
