Vivian Diane James
July 1, 1947 - November 12, 2024
Vivian D. James was born on July 1, 1947 in Mt. Hermon, LA to the late Robert James and Freddie Mae James. She was the fourth child of five siblings. Vivian was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Vivian accepted Christ when she was a young girl. She joined Plainview Church of Christ Holiness at an early age and remained a faithful member until her passing. Vivian graduated from Vernon High School where she excelled in sports as a basketball player. During her high school years, she was on one of their winning championship teams. Soon after graduating high school, Vivian moved to Brooklyn, New York to help take care of a relative. She lived in New York from the mid-1960s until the early 2000s. She was employed by New York Bell as a telephone operator for 24 years until she became ill.
Vivian loved her family and was always willing to help them when needed. She enjoyed planning family reunions and spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews. Vivian had a keen memory and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved to share a good story and reminisce with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, photography, sports, and gospel music. During her illness, Vivian was cared for by her dear cousin Clodean Brumfield and her sister-in-law Cynthia James.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Freddie Mae James, her sisters Jenella Harvey Burris and Charlotte James Aaron, her brothers Roosevelt James (Frances) and Ernest James (Cynthia), brother-in-laws Constant Burris and Walter Young, niece India Young, nephews Roosevelt James Jr, Robert James, and Dantavius James. Vivian leaves to cherish her sister Lenora Young, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Plainview Church of Christ Holiness USA with Elder Albert Brumfield – Pastor Officiating. Interment – Plainview Church Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
