Mary Virginia White

January 27, 1930 - November 14, 2024

Mary Virginia White passed away peacefully at Walter and Martha Vernon’s home in Franklinton, La on November 14, 2024 at the age of 94. Mary was born on January 27, 1930, in Clinton, La to her mother Lora C Fant. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Sullivan and Minnie Cooper. After moving to Covington, La where she lived most of her life, she began working for A & P Grocery store where she worked numerous positions for 14 years. She then worked at Collins Blvd Christian Daycare until it closed. The daycare is where she affectionately became known as Maw Maw Mary, who carried a wooden spoon. She was passionate about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful member at Collins Blvd Baptist Church for over 40 years where she served her church under the leadership of Bro Murphy Brantley and Bro Shannon Burns.She will be remembered for her love of butterflies which would open the door for her to share her testimony of how she was not the worm she once was, but a new creation in Christ. She could often be heard telling anyone who would listen how Good God has been to her.

Mary is survived by her children; Kenneth White (Carol), Fred Walter Vernon (Martha), Milton “Mickie” Sharp. Daughter in laws, Sherry Dickerson (Michael) and Janice Frazier. Her sister Rose Hoggie from Clinton, La. Her grandchildren Rhonda Cox (John), Chelli Brock, Gordon White (Kristin) Celeste Frazier (Lewis), Michelle Kish (Randy), Clyde White (Debbie), Blake Dickerson, Amber Heim (Brandon), Erica Eckert, Ethan Vernon (Christine), 16 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. And her sister Rose Hoogie from Clinton, La.

She is preceded in death by her mother Lora Fant, her maternal grandparents Sullivan and Minnie Cooper of Clinton, La. Her brothers Joseph “Red” Miller, Frank Miller, & George Miller. Her daughter Lillian White Sharp, her sons Clyde Joseph White and Byron Earl Frazier. And her great grandchild Lacey Brock.

The funeral is scheduled for November 23, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church, with a small reception to follow. Visiting hours will be from 9:00am - 12:00pm with service to follow at 12:00pm. A small graveside service will follow in Clinton, La at Rose Hill Cemetery. Bro Shannon Burns will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary’s life.

Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
