Obituary

Willie Louis "Pete" Busby

September 16, 1933 - November 25, 2024

Willie Louis “Pete” Busby, born September 16, 1933, near Hackley, LA, and a life-long resident of Franklinton, LA (Stoney Point), went to his Heavenly Home surrounded by family on November 25, 2024, at the age of 91. His loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Edith “Punk” Frances Mulina Busby, was by his side, along with his loving family.

Pete joined the U.S. Navy as a young man and served during the Korean War Era. He completed 4 years of Active Service followed by 6 ½ years in the Reserves. Pete was an electrician in the service, working diligently on boats to serve our country. His time in the service gave him many life experiences and shaped him into the strong and dedicated man we all respected.

Pete was well-known to everyone as a dedicated son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, neighbor, Christian, provider, farmer, electrician, mechanic and one of his most favorite…a recreational fisherman. If anyone needed anything they always knew all they had to do is call him and he would be there with a hammer and screwdriver in hand or a trailer to haul whatever they needed. He loved spending time with his family frying fish, going fishing at the pond, camping and boating, working his fields on the tractor, tending to his vegetable garden, and playing volleyball after church with family and friends in his younger years. God and family were always at the center of his world. Making sure that his family was taken care of was a top priority in his life. He was a great role model and teacher instilling a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He was loved deeply by his family and all that knew him. He will be missed by all, but will be plowing the gardens in Heaven preparing them for his family to join him. As he always said…He’ll be waiting for all of us by the River.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife Edith “Punk” Busby. Pete is a beloved father and is survived by his two sons and four daughters along with their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
