After observing a vehicle being driven without headlights in 1500 block of Gause Boulevard in the city limits of Slidell, detectives assigned to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Proactive Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop.
Eugene McKnight, age 65 and of Slidell, was found to be in possession of an assortment of illegally possessed prescription medication, approximately 65.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 39.9 grams of suspected powder cocaine, approximately 39.9 grams of suspected marijuana, approximately 13.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 2.8 grams of suspected fentanyl powder. The narcotics were pre-weighed and packaged for street level narcotics distribution.
McKnight was also in possession of $1,623, believed to be proceeds from drug transactions and a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun. McKnight is prohibited from possessing a firearm until the year 2037 due to several prior drug distribution charges.
McKnight was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on numerous narcotics and firearms related offenses.
