On the afternoon of the November 1, an officer with the Washington Parish Sheriff's office responded to a call on Twin Pines Road in Bogalusa, LA, in reference to a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, the officer observed Remington sitting on the tailgate of a pickup truck with a kitchen knife in his hand. Remington’s behavior was erratic and threatening, but he eventually put the knife down and was apprehended. Remington informed the officer that he had attacked an elderly woman because she had taken his father’s house.
The victim stated that Remington had a history of mental health issues and that she believed he hadn’t taken his medication that day. After being transported to Our Lady of The Angels Hospital and evaluated, it was determined that Remington’s mental health was not an issue, and he was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department for booking. The WPSO press release added, “If you or someone you know is suffering from mental health issues, please seek professional help before the situation becomes dangerous. Many of the problems that we encounter during our patrols could be prevented by proper care and treatment for drug abuse and mental health disorders.
